December 30, 2008 Holiday Tour of Lights Night Ride and Dine to Christopher Daniel Restaurant with Maserati of Baltimore

joppa_road_baltimore-county_holiday_lightsWith 2008 coming almost too quickly to a close, Maserati of Baltimore Staff and M.O.B. Exotics friends finally found a night with clear weather and organized their holiday “Ride and Dine”, this time heading out for a Holiday Light tour and a delicious late night relaxing bite at local gourmet hangout Christopher Daniel restaurant back home in Timonium, Maryland.

Breathtaking was the Word of the Night

Cold but above freezing temperatures with clear and bright quarter moon skies gave the team the perfect street conditions for an after dark rally December 30th, 2008. A long busy day helped all participants build an appetite with the two hour light tour relaxing everyone perfectly before dining at local gourmet bistro and Timonium West Padonia road casual restaurant and bar favorite Christopher Daniel (

Miracle on 34th Street Baltimore Style

34th_street_auto_christmas_light_fun_displayLeaving from Maserati of Baltimore, the group headed down I-83 to see the twinkling and locally famous light tour in Hamden.

Residents of the 34th street area have been decorating as a group since 1947, and in 2008 the tradition did not disappoint. Affectionately known as the best “tacky light tour” in town, the neighborhood appeared as magical to local adult and child visitors as a trip to Walt Disney World–without the holiday travel headaches and for a more friendly and cost effective price (free to the public, charity and light strand donations welcomed).

Behind the Scenes in Baltimore County

baltimore_neighborhoods_christmas_lightsFollowing guided routes led by long time Baltimore resident and Maserati of Baltimore Guest Services team Tom and Diane Beckman, the exotic cars from Maserati of Baltimore toured the streets and neighborhoods of Baltimore county sparkling and nice.

Thanks to all the heads up from Maserati of Baltimore clients who like to spend time on the road driving for pleasure, we were able to find some of the best decorated homes around the area off the beaten path. Maryland residents don’t play around when it comes to their Christmas lights. Despite rising energy costs through BGE, everywhere we went we saw holiday houses filled with good will, love, and festive spirit. All were lit for neighbors pleasure–with hardly a house seeming to be missing any touch of decoration on this particular star studded night.

Estate Homes Pretty as a Picture on A Cold Winter’s Night

Knowing the back roads and having mapped out a road rally tour of neighborhoods decorated in a way sure to delight, the group enjoyed viewing many new enclaves of communities around town. What was in store for drivers and passengers was a Holiday Parade of Homes; doing Maryland proud, these homeowners went all out to make sure their houses and streets look bright. Here’s a few of our favorites homes “Better Homes and Gardens” worthy decoration photos from this very special holiday “Play in Traffic” get together on the perfect for driving December night:

Sarah Gilbert Fox of Baltimore Style Magazine Helps Promote Port Discovery Childrens Museum Noontime at New Year Celebration of Everything Italian with Special Guest Maserati of Baltimore

Sarah Gilbert Fox

Town Talk by Sarah Gilbert Fox at Baltimore Style Magazine

Ciao New Year’s Eve in Baltimore

Celebrate the Italian in you—or your Italian spirit. Forget Lindsay Lohan, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.  This year, Baltimore rings in the New Year with more important celebrities.

Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei and Enrico Fermi—The Fathers of Science—will be at Port Discovery all day [December 31, 2008 from 10 am to 5 pm] to discuss their areas of interest. You can ask Galileo how he came to figure out that the laws of nature were mathematical—and how far was the Leaning Tower of Pisa was leaning when he was born (seeing as Pisa was his birthplace).

Now’s your chance to ask Enrico Fermi, the father of nuclear physics, how he felt about the Manhattan project, and having Fermium (Fm) named after him.  And you can ask Divinci, the first to conceptualize solar power—what he thinks of solar energy today; if, between fusing art and natural philosophy together and painting the Sistine Chapel—he ever found time to sleep; and what the heck Mona Lisa was smiling about.

After a combined silence of over 1,000 years (Leo being 556 years old now, Galileo being 444 years old, and young Enrico a mere 107 years old)… these men have a lot to say.  Some come and ask them.

And if science isn’t your thing, Maserati of Baltimore will have a spiffy new car parked in front so you can have your picture made standing along side its mechanical gorgeousness.

Giuliano Cleneza, the Baltimore Blast soccer player, will be out in the field, ready to take on the kids or teach them some mean Banana Kicks; Christopher Columbus, at a mere 555 years of age, will be on hand for photos and to explain how his lack of experience in navigation at sea almost cost him (what we learned in school as) the discovery of the Americas.

Maestro Gianni Toso, will be creating incredible glass sculptures; Francesca Legaluppi will teach kids Italian songs, tra la la la!; and Bob the Vid Tech (from Maryland Public Television) will be bringing the Vid Kid Road Show to help with the Noontime New Year’s Countdown.

And if that’s still not enough to tempt you to come to Port Discovery for New Year’s Eve… consider this.  Parents and kids can do so much together: make pasta, create Venetian masks, put together Italian flags and paint countdown numbers, or watch a Romeo and Juliet puppet show, and eat milk and cookies.  Yep.  Which brings us around to our happy milk and cookies ending to a wonderful 2008!

Noontime New Year activities run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. [on December 31, 2008] and are free with Museum admission. Museum admission is $11.75 for ages 2 and up. Children under 2 and members are free.

Port Discovery Children’s Museum 35 Market Place Baltimore, MD 21202 Directions to Port Discovery Phone: 410.727.8120 Fax: 410.727.3042 Email:

Visitors to Port Discovery’s Noontime Count Down receive an excellent Discount Coupons for Mex in the Power Plant… 20% off the entire check.

Maserati of Baltimore is not a slow place to spend your time, even if it’s after hours or staying on to the brink of overnight. Just ask New York fashion icon John Ashford, the womens shoe designer whose stiletto heels and sexy boots are taking the celebrity housewives and runway modeling world by storm.

Thanks to Ashford visiting the M.O.B. Exotic Car Gallery on December 5th, 2008 to conduct an evening photo shoot in the race shop after detailers and mechanics went home for the day, he was able to create the initial images to satisfy his artistic vision: a photo collection worthy of being the key feature set for his upcoming photography book publication. Working in conjunction with Jack Davis (General Manager of Maserati of Baltimore) and friend Rob Morton of Tre’Lynn Production, the moon and stars aligned to help everyone create some spectacular exotic car and beautiful, fast-driving  girl images.

Frank Benjamin and Rob Morton both are Gentlemen we have worked with in the past and can highly recommend. We are pleased to have the opportunity to showcase their work here as part of Playing in Traffic’s way to send a big holiday “Thank You” to them.

Rob has helped photo document several Maserati of Baltimore events such as the 2008 Maserati of Baltimore Rally for the Troops to benefit the USO Metro and the 2008 Blu Vintage show to help raise money for a playground for Baltimore Inner City’s Father Charles Hall Elementary School at the Engineers Club. In addition, Rob is also the photographer for a series of photographs for New York Shoe Designer John Ashford. John and Rob staged a photo shoot at Maserati of Baltimore using the M.O.B. Exotics Lamborghini, Maserati, and Ferrari cars as the surreal subject base for an artistic photo collection, “Women at 200 MPH” scheduled for publication in a coffee table book by Fall, 2009. The best thing about working with Rob? He always has our pictures back for dealership review in race track high performance automobile time. In the car world that means he’s the kind of event photographer who performs in high gear and has pictures back to businesses and owners groups in less than 24 hours. As a creative professional who comfortably wears many hats, we’re also proud to announce he is one of the best in the business for creating professional or personal albums of photographs.

Browse the gallery of photographs by Baltimore’s favorite “Dancing Photographer” Frank Benjamin by clicking HERE.

No playing around; this photographer is professional, prompt, and fun. Having worked with Frank as our chief photographer for several events with Smyth Jewelers, we were also happy that he coordinated a photo shoot at Maserati of Baltimore early in the year with the theme “Urban Casual”. Using the exotic cars to showcase the Maserati of Baltimore city style, he was the natural choice to help photo document our participation with celebrity Angie Stone. Ms. Stone performed at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and was chauffeured to and from the event by the staff of Maserati of Baltimore in a dazzling Blue Ocean Quattroporte–a car that Frank showcased for us brilliantly in his photographs. Always ready to preform for us in quick-step time, he’s a Baltimore favorite photographer for specialty event photographs.

Maserati of Baltimore and Smyth Jewelers Help Support the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company: 100 Years of Fire Fighter Service Commemorative Ornaments Make Christmas and Holidays MERRY

santa_2008_lvfc_friendFireman’s Commemorative Christmas Ornament Fund Raising Initiative in Lutherville, Maryland

Celebrate 100-years of FIRE FIGHTER VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY SERVICE from the Lutherville Fire Department to the Communities in Northern Baltimore County–the “Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company” at

The Welcome Wagon

Maserati of Baltimore knows who their friends are when it comes to community service and we understand what it means to be a truly active part of a team of professionals serving the community.

As a newly formed organization in the region, Maserati of Baltimore and the staff of M.O.B. Exotic Car Gallery wishes to thank the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company not only for their outstanding care, concern, and involvement with the local  communities here in Northern Baltimore county, but also for the personal service they have always done for our exotic car community.

Help Right Around the Corner

Over the years, many of our local Maryland car owners and drivers have relied on the fire station in times of need. Whether coming to the rescue on the road, at home, for their businesses, or at various community fund raisers, they have been a reliable network of “men of Good Will”, there in a pinch always when the public seems to need them the most.

lvfd The Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company was established after the town’s first water main was constructed in 1909. James P. Reese, with the help of the Lutherville Community Association converted his carriage house at the corner Morris and Francke to a fire house. With the purchase of a pumper truck with hose reel LVFC was founded. Soon after, Smyth Jewelers moved into the neighborhood and the two have remained good friends ever since.

Community Service Ethics

This year, the volunteers from the Lutherville fire department came to Maserati of Baltimore’s “rescue” during the 2008 “Giving In Style” private party fund raiser hosted by Shauna and Dan Wilcox when setup staff and volunteers were delayed by rough football games, difficult practice schedules, flu bugs, and inclement weather conditions.

Jumping in to fill the staffing holes on behalf of the charitable organization, these dedicated and truly heroic service professionals helped supplement the Maserati of Baltimore Guest Services staff before, during, and after the event and to make up for time crunched or absent assistants with setup and cleanup of the dealership before and and well after closing times (into the wee hours of the mornings Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday with the M.O.B. Exotics family).

It Takes a Village to Say THANK YOU

Donate Directly at

Knowing how hard the group worked on local neighbor Maserati of  Baltimore’s behalf (and the Baltimore Ravens’ to help with the fund raising efforts for the Wilcox foundation), we want to be sure to give a big Italian car loving community “thank you” to these great gentlemen properly for helping make the event such a lively and lovely success for the evening.

As such, we’re inviting their entire staff back for dinner at our place with the Italianizzato Club Sunday dinner January 11th, 2009 (hosted by Tony Iacampo’s Sweet Lela’s Market Cafe–our neighborhood friend from Towson Circle). We’re also delighted to help promote their organization by helping to sell their latest gift back to the community: the 100 year anniversary ornament, which will be available for purchase through the M.O.B. Exotics Race Fan Boutique now through the end of February 2009.

Mike Rudden from MOTOART, Speed Millet from Speed’s Cycle, and Wayne Nicolette from Xibitz offer you a big round of applause for helping them help the evening look visually spectacular, too.

Gold and Silver Friendships

To help celebrate the fire company’s historic 100 year anniversary event, Smyth Jewelers is working with LVFC in the design and crafting of a series of three Christmas ornaments. Each year for the next three years there will be a separate and distinctive ornament-–different colors, different themes-–all acknowledging a milestone in the history of the fire fighter company.

These lovely Christmas and Holiday Decorative ornaments can be purchased at Smyth Jewelers, ordered through Maserati of Baltimore via our Race Fan Boutique, at the LVFC fire house station on Bellona Road in Lutherville [Maryland], or on-line below!

Expressing our Thanks and Gratitude

Beyond thanking all of the guests and Baltimore Ravens team members who came out to show their support for the Wilcox family, Maserati of Baltimore wants to extend our thanks to the fire station from everyone who participated with the 2008 Giving in Style charity benefit party.

Thanks, guys, for keeping us safe in our homes, businesses, and on the road… and thank you for supporting Dan and Shauna’s foundation E.M.P.O.W.E.R.M.E.N.T. Minds.

We are all better people for having the opportunity to work with the Lutherville area firemen–you helped us all stay focused, put out the normal event management fires, and to keep our cool. All your volunteers are great people to know and to have worked with, too. Thank you for joining the Maserati of Baltimore Guest Services “Volunteer Player” team–you are definitely win the award for sponsorship MVP!

2008 Giving In Style UPDATED Rain Delay Schedule at Maserati of Baltimore from Dan and Shauna Wilcox

Maserati of Baltimore is located at 1630 York Road, Lutherville Timonium, Maryland

Maserati of Baltimore is located at 1630 York Road, Lutherville Timonium, Maryland

The weather outside is frightful, but Maserati of Baltimore is so delightful. Since we’ve no place to go (and we want all commuters to arrive safely on our Baltimore and Washington DC commuter traffic roads), we’re delaying the start of the Fashion Show by one hour and extending the cocktail party portion of the evening to before the show.

As we all know, traffic on the beltways around the metropolitan Washington [DC] and Baltimore areas tend to move more slowly during rain or snow weather. Please drive carefully on your way to the event–and trust that with the show start set back by one hour, that arriving at a 6:30 deadline is not worth risking an accident on the road. Having a later start times also will all0w guests to have a bite of dinner before arriving for the evening, Shauna Wilcox says, “and Ruth’s Chris restaurant will be on hand with light appetizers for the crowd that’s mingling.”

The party will go tonight on as scheduled despite the rain; however, for safety reasons we have asked hosts Dan Wilcox and Shauna to limit the libations cash bar service to the earlier portion of the evening. With freezing rain on it’s way for after midnight, we’ll be limiting last call after the show and offering coffee to ensure folks will be driving safely on the roads going home.

“Giving in Style” Event Schedule

  • 6:30-7:30 Red Carpet Guest Reception
  • 7:30-8:30 Cocktails and Light Appetizers from Ruth’s Chris in the M.O.B. Exotics Gallery; Smyth “Silver and Gold Exchange”

  • 9:00-11:00 Celebrity Fashion Show; Live Auction; Entertainment
  • 11:00-11:30 Gift Bag Delivery in the Maserati of Baltimore Showroom [Last Call 11:00-11:15 pm]
  • Midnight rain and inclement weather conditions predicted–TRAVEL ADVISORY for the commute home

When it comes to holiday spirit, M.O.B. Exotics fans, Maryland is no Ebenezer Scrooge. There are several locations around the state to enjoy Christmas lights with those you love; from around the beltway down to Anne Arundel County, there are several spots that really light things up!

In the heart of Baltimore, Charm City lovers come from all around to visit the lights in the Hampden neighborhood. Between the 700 block of 34th Street, between Keswick Road and Chestnut Street. Row homes are lit from top to bottom with Christmas lights. Yards and porches are full of inflatable snow globes and animated Santa Claus’. If you are looking to go out for a drive, “The Miracle on 34th Street” will last as a memory for years to come.
