Hospice of Chesapeake Bay area is beneficiary of Ferrari Club Exotic Car Show ‘Gilligans Island’

BREAKING AUTO NEWS: Photos are starting to come in from the 2009 Gilligan’s Island festival held Saturday June 6, 2009 in Pasedena, Maryland. Sponsored by Craftsmen Developers Dennis Gilligan (www.craftsmendevelopers.com), the event was sanctioned by the Ferrari Club of America and overseen by Mid-Atlantic region club president Bill Ebert. Several thousand dollars were raised for the local charity Hospice of Chesapeake Bay (www.hospicechesapeake.org). 2009 Gilligans Island Car Show in Maryland

As a first annual FCA-MAR sanctioned event to be held for the local Hospice center in nearby Chesapeake Bay region, the intimate function “Gilligan’s Island Ferrari Club Exotic Car Show to benefit the Hospice of Chesapeake” boasted quite a few spectacular Ferrari cars in addition to a fine assortment of high end luxury vehicles and other state of the art exotics. Show cars of note included a vintage Ferrari Dino, a Ford GT, and a Ferrari Super America.

Festival features included lively Cajun music, catered barbecue from local upscale restaurant Adam’s Ribs, live and silent auction components, and an award ceremony. Trophies were awarded based on fun Gilligan’s Island television show themes like “Professors Choice”, “the Mary Ann Award”, and the “Ginger Grant”.

The event, staged with Concours D’Elegance style green grass fields and cars parked showcase-style along winding blacktop areas under a heavy canopy of well manicured but predominantly indigenous Maryland trees, allowed guests to wander and roam the property freely.

Attendance numbers neared 200 guests, with 100% of the $45 per person ticket proceeds going to the Hospice Center to help fund their programming. Car show attendants were also treated to imported beer, bubbling champagne, and Cohiba cigars (all compliments of the gracious hosts), with visitors able to browse through cars and on site vendor art.

The early word from the FCA-MAR board is that they fully expect to support asking the Ferrari Club of American to again lend it’s supporting sanction blessing to the future annual events that will undoubtedly help the guests of the Hospice rest easier thanks to the gracious hospitality provided by the Gilligans and diverse group of 2009 festival attendants.

Until that time, the FCA-MAR group plans to be very busy, with many car shows, special group outings, and road galleries planned throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The Ferrari Club is an organization that prides itself on being a social organization committed to the promotion of the Ferrari brand and working to help all members of each local community meet their needs. Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come for the 2008 “Giving in Style” Charitable Auction and Celebrity Fashion Benefit At Maserati of Baltimore with special guest hosts Shauna (Chin) Wilcox and Daniel Wilcox. Jersey number 83 will never have looked so good during Monday night Football as it will helping raise money to benefit struggling Baltimore area inner city children by strutting the couture runway amidst a backdrop of Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini high profile cars at this red carpet bash.

Here’s the story–and yes, folks. Tickets are nearly sold out and we are (as of 2pm on Monday December 15th) rapidly approaching standing room only for this Tuesday December 16th private catered cocktail hour and live entertainment affair [taking place from 6:30-10:00+pm, respectively].

Baltimore Ravens tight end, Daniel Wilcox, through his charitable foundation, Empowerment M.I.N.D.S., which seeks to open up the horizons of disadvantaged youth through programs that increase their access to opportunities.

What:

Giving in Style, a red carpet charity cocktail party, celebrity fashion show and auction by Shauna Wilcox, proceeds of which will help Empowerment M.I.N.D.S. to provide Baltimore area youths  and youth sponsored by The Have a Heart Campaign with reading materials, technological products and cultural opportunities. Eunice Style Fashion Consulting’s Tina Durriseaux, IMAT, and IMEG Productions are coordinating the fashion show featuring celebrity models including Ravens’ players such as Ed Reed, Chris McCalister, Bart Scott and many others.  Plus, musical entertainment will be provided by Carmen, Paula Campbell, Chop Shop Cartel and various talented acts. Also in attendance will be various dignitaries such as star violinists “Nuttin’ But Strings”, and Peter Angelos.

Kimatni Rawlins from Automotive Rhythms T.V. will also be on hand, as will socialite columnist Anne Brown Simanski to cover the Charm City  “exotic car luxury lifestyle” scene on behalf of friends Jack and Kae Davis from Maserati of Baltimore. The Lutherville Volunteer Fire Department will also be on the scene. VIP’s Mike Rudden of Motoart and Wayne Nicolette of Xibitz will also be on hand alongside Ruth’s Chris Restaurant and Smyth Jewelers.

Newlywed Baltimore power couple Dan and Shauna Wilcox are hosting a private party and fashion gala with friends from M.O.B. Exotics. Raising money for their newly founded Non-Profit organization “E.M.P.O.W.E.R.M.E.N.T. Minds“, these new local charm city stars have planned a spectacular night. Working on behalf of the foundation, the Wilcox family is striving to make a positive impact on our local world by helping underprivileged inner city children in the Baltimore community.

Sponsors for this special Christmas and New Year “Silver and Gold” gathering epitomize the character of the event. Wayne Nicolette from Xhibitz will be lending a splash of pizzaz to create the backdrop for the red carpet guests with a jumping fountain display that will remind guests of Walt Disney’s EPCOT in Kissimmee, Florida.

Thanks to famous Baltimore City Inner Harbor and Ravens favorite restaurant Ruth’s Chris, guests will enjoy a selection of lite-fare appetizers. If you plan to have dinner before the event, you will be comfortable throughout the evening; but don’t fear that this restaurant will let you go hungry for long–they’ll be handing out gift cards to VIP and paid general admission guests throughout the evening.

Vitamin Water is a generous donor; they will be providing donated refreshments to help the charity raise money throughout the evening. With a special livation menu (and non-alcoholic substitution) cocktail menu available, the cash bar proceeds will be reverting to the foundation.  Ensuring that guests continue to remember that the real reason we are celebrating is to help raise money for the E.M.P.O.W.E.R.M.E.N.T. Admission price is a sweet holiday treat guaranteeing you seats for the fashion show and entertainment portion of the evening–only $83 per person.” [For anyone not from the Baltimore Washington DC area wondering, Dan Wilcox jersey number is eighty-three.]

GIVE AND GET: LUXURY LIVING

Both admission prices will include a gift bag for each ticket holder at the end of the evening, so remember to keep your ticket identification handy. Dan and Shauna plan to distribute gift bags from a high tech sleigh–using a Maserati Quattroporte as the distribution gifting suite display. Guests can relax and shop in the Maserati Boutique while in line to collect their treats and goodies or browse the showroom and daydream about the “Playing in Traffic” scenes.

The last few pieces of this ultra-glam event should have all guests bringing a little something. Smyth Jewelers, a main sponsor of the event, will have a booth onsite and will be buying old or broken pieces of gold and silver jewelry from guests–and based on weight, will be issuing guests a high exchange rate. Bring your sparkling bits and baubles you are no longer using and get a check back from Smyth immediately.

What will you do with the newfound money? Hopefully, bidding on one of the Live Auction items for sale intermittently throughout the show–or purchasing raffle tickets to distribute among the silent bid “Greek Auction” items.
