December 30, 2008 Holiday Tour of Lights Night Ride and Dine to Christopher Daniel Restaurant with Maserati of Baltimore

joppa_road_baltimore-county_holiday_lightsWith 2008 coming almost too quickly to a close, Maserati of Baltimore Staff and M.O.B. Exotics friends finally found a night with clear weather and organized their holiday “Ride and Dine”, this time heading out for a Holiday Light tour and a delicious late night relaxing bite at local gourmet hangout Christopher Daniel restaurant back home in Timonium, Maryland.

Breathtaking was the Word of the Night

Cold but above freezing temperatures with clear and bright quarter moon skies gave the team the perfect street conditions for an after dark rally December 30th, 2008. A long busy day helped all participants build an appetite with the two hour light tour relaxing everyone perfectly before dining at local gourmet bistro and Timonium West Padonia road casual restaurant and bar favorite Christopher Daniel (www.christopher-daniel.com).

Miracle on 34th Street Baltimore Style

34th_street_auto_christmas_light_fun_displayLeaving from Maserati of Baltimore, the group headed down I-83 to see the twinkling and locally famous light tour in Hamden.

Residents of the 34th street area have been decorating as a group since 1947, and in 2008 the tradition did not disappoint. Affectionately known as the best “tacky light tour” in town, the neighborhood appeared as magical to local adult and child visitors as a trip to Walt Disney World–without the holiday travel headaches and for a more friendly and cost effective price (free to the public, charity and light strand donations welcomed).

Behind the Scenes in Baltimore County

baltimore_neighborhoods_christmas_lightsFollowing guided routes led by long time Baltimore resident and Maserati of Baltimore Guest Services team Tom and Diane Beckman, the exotic cars from Maserati of Baltimore toured the streets and neighborhoods of Baltimore county sparkling and nice.

Thanks to all the heads up from Maserati of Baltimore clients who like to spend time on the road driving for pleasure, we were able to find some of the best decorated homes around the area off the beaten path. Maryland residents don’t play around when it comes to their Christmas lights. Despite rising energy costs through BGE, everywhere we went we saw holiday houses filled with good will, love, and festive spirit. All were lit for neighbors pleasure–with hardly a house seeming to be missing any touch of decoration on this particular star studded night.

Estate Homes Pretty as a Picture on A Cold Winter’s Night

Knowing the back roads and having mapped out a road rally tour of neighborhoods decorated in a way sure to delight, the group enjoyed viewing many new enclaves of communities around town. What was in store for drivers and passengers was a Holiday Parade of Homes; doing Maryland proud, these homeowners went all out to make sure their houses and streets look bright. Here’s a few of our favorites homes “Better Homes and Gardens” worthy decoration photos from this very special holiday “Play in Traffic” get together on the perfect for driving December night:

maserati_of_baltimore_at_christopher_daniel_restaurant_timoniumTasty comfort food favorite side dishes include Lobster Macaroni and Cheese, Sweet Potato Fries, and Potatoes Au Gratin. Serving an assortment of soups, salads, seafood, steaks, and gourmet fare specialties, the restaurant is sure to have something on the menu to please a group, single, or couple on any given night. Add an ample wine list, full bar, easy parking, and a friendly wait staff, and we’re proud to report they treat Maserati of Baltimore customers and staff right.

Friendly Reminder: Road Rally from Maserati of Baltimore to Friendly Farms Sunday November 16, 2008

fall-colors-tour-maryland-2008Just a “FRIENDLY” reminder to our Ferrari club friends in the Baltimore Washington region….

Hosts Tony Syntax and Will Matricciani have organized a “non-official” meet-up at Maserati of Baltimore Sunday November 16th, 2008 at 10am. They are planning on making a lunchtime road rally up through scenic Northern Baltimore County, with old friends and new from M.O.B. Exotic car gallery invited to join them.

The current mission and destination? We’re headed out for Crab Cakes at Friendly Farms in Upperco, Maryland. We’re taking the long route to enjoy a last gasp of Fall Color en route.

Established in 1959, the Friendly Farm restaurant has been a favorite of the locals, “for all its decades of existence” says Tony. Friendly Farms describes their dining experience offerings as follows: friendly-farm-food-preview

Dining is family style. A choice of individually presented entrées, such as Roast Beef, Shrimp, Fried Chicken, Country Ham, Porterhouse Steak or “Our Famous” Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes are offered. Included with your meal are servings of the daily vegetable, fresh hand-cut french-fried potatoes, fruit, apple butter, cottage cheese, our relish dish, and an abundance of dinner rolls and deep-fried sugar rolls with butter and beverage. Completing your meal is a generous scoop of dairy-fresh ice cream.

Car Lovers: Wake Up and Smell the Coffee… well, Cappuccino, actually.

Maserati of Baltimore will be happy to open its doors that morning to accommodate FCA-MAR and driving enthusiast friends from the region. The drive from Maserati of Baltimore will be mapped and the route is expected to take between one and two hours, placing drivers at the restaurant shortly after noon.

General Manager Jack Davis himself will be there to open the dealership to drivers and navigators for morning coffee and browsing in the boutique that morning. Unlocking at 9:45 am, he’ll be sure the race shop and wash bay facilities are open and ready for everybody running that day in the rally.

sign-friendly-farm-upperco-maryland

RSVPs are requested…

With a sufficient number of reservations, a small banquet area will be reserved by Will (for a collective group of 20 or more). To that end, having a co-pilot to help navigate is both prudent and necessary–otherwise, Will says, “The lines at the restaurant to wait for lunch might be long.”

Either way, regardless of attendance numbers, we expect guests to be happy with the scenery. Friendly Farm is a beautiful location, and the chance to sit and socialize on a colorful fall weekend afternoon is something we know really won’t bother car guys or ladies.

For more information about Friendly Farm, click HERE.

To learn more about sanctioned Ferrari Club events in the Mid-Atlantic region or to join the FCA-MAR organization as a member, click HERE.

Please note: in the case of inclement weather, the route from M.O.B. Exotics to Friendly Farms will be shortened and made direct. RSVP to mobexotics@gmail.com to confirm your attendance and request for a rally map packet by November 14th to guarantee “Play in Traffic” inclusion.

FCA-MAR club members always receive a discount at Maserati of Baltimore in parts, service, sales, and the M.O.B. Exotic Car Gallery Race Fan Boutique. Present your club card to Jack Davis and use this special Sunday opportunity to do some holiday shopping.

Saturday September 6, 2008 was a day to remember. With Tropical Storm HANNA hitting the Baltimore Coast and making it’s landfall just in time for the “MASERATI OF BALTIMORE RALLY FOR THE TROOPS”, car lovers around Baltimore were discouraged that we had to request our drivers stay off the road and complete their fun run road rally when skies were going to be more friendly.

AWARDS DEDICATIONS

FIRST RUN OF THE ROAD RALLY

SPIRIT AWARD: FIRST RUN OF THE ROAD RALLY GOES TO JOE AND DOTTY HORDUBAY

By the time we cleared our last set of guests last night (around 9:30 pm) and headed down to the Afterparty at CIAO BELLA RESTAURANT, we decided Maserati of Baltimore was going to give our spirit awards out by Internet first–before we contacted people to say thank you directly.

This first award is for valiant efforts running our road rally and getting the results back to us in a timely manner for grading.

FIRST RUN OF THE RALLY

Owner Joe Hordubay piloted his 2002 Ford Taurus and made a generous VIP level donation to the USO of Metropolitan Washington. His lovely wife Dotty served as his co-pilot, and helped decorate their RALLY GAME PACK with messages of love and support to all of our volunteers and also included a great message for the troops.

COMMENTS ABOUT THE ROAD RALLY AND EVENT

Here’s what the Hordubays had to say about our Passport Rally:

“Great Picture Clues! Beautiful Scenery! Fabulous Planning!”

Their opinion of the Fun Run and HOLY HANNA Brunch?

“Congrats on a VERY Successful EVENT!”

Penciling in their own summary of the day and personal storm story (what they had to overcome this weekend and have done to show support for the troops), Dotty said,

“Thanks for a fabulous day. We arrived home at 8pm to a very “dark” property–no power. So, we did the rally this beautiful Sunday morning [bright and early], hoping power is returned by the time we return home.”

MESSAGES OF SUPPORT FOR THE USO METRO AND OUR TROOPS

Dotty and Joe also left a beautiful quote answering the question, “What the USO means to me…”:

The USO supports those fighting for our freedom. We are grateful to know that our troops are being thanked for their dedication to our country. Great Job!

Keep in mind that this lovely couple had no personal military history (they say they have had relatives in the military, but were not involved directly). That makes their enthusiasm supporting our military a perfect example of the people our armed forces are out and about in the world both protecting and representing.

Thanks, troops–and thank you Joe and Dotty for showing such dedication to promoting our 2008 Maserati of Baltimore Rally for the Troops. It’s the guests, visitors, and volunteers like you who helped us make this event such a tremendous success, absolutely.

Rally participants will pair off in Pilot and Co-Pilot Groups. Between 9-10 am, each couple will check in for departure. At that time, they will receive their “travel kit”, a carry on goodie bags that will help them through their trip. Starting at 10 am, teams of 10-20 cars will begin to “taxi out for lineup”, preparing to take off by reserved time “flight groups” (each car being clocked for time of departure).

As the MOB drivers travel through Baltimore County, they will navigate through a scenic Baltimore County route looking for passport clues. Drivers and passengers will keep in mind that the goal of this rally is to have fun–so safe and lawful driving will be expected from all teams. Finding clues to complete the passport stamps correctly will require paying close attention and keeping an eagle’s eye watch along the road. Drivers will make the flight plan loop and return to Maserati of Baltimore where they will be clocked in by the Traffic Controller and present their passport to Customs for Inspection.

“The CONCORSO: Celebrating the Art of The Automobile”: Mark Your Calendars and Make Your Hotel Reservations NOW to Visit Baltimore September 6-7, 2008

logo

Friends and families of Maserati of Baltimore, M.O.B. Exotics, Lamborghini Baltimore, Maserati of Washington, Ferrari of Washington, and Lamborghini Washington take note! There is a wonderful opportunity coming up this fall to play in traffic with your exotic cars, have a great time, and to raise some money for a very worthy cause–benefiting our soldiers and heroes of the United States Armed Forces through the charitable efforts of the USO Metro non-profit organization.

Saturday September 6th launching from the Maserati of Baltimore location at 1628 York Road in “Lutherville Timonium” [according to most Nav and GPS devices], we’ll be hosting a ROAD RALLY touring the northern Maryland regions and finishing with a touch of magic right back at home from Baltimore’s LITTLE ITALY. The exact course is being determined now, but drivers and co-pilots can expect to visit Maryland’s soaring heights and lush county grounds while they wind their way about the lakes and mountains, returning to the dealership landing spot to have a quick treat from downtown. Offering a fun rally style for everyone, we’ll be rewarding our most attentive teams with some terrific M.O.B. Exotics Race Fan Boutique certificates.

On that same day, later that evening Saturday, September 6, speed and travel fans can head over to the Baltimore Washington Airport Signature Flight Support Terminal area to visit the next leg of the weekend events. Aptly titled, “Wings and Wheels”, participants will get an up close and personal look at all kinds of exotic cars, planes, military vehicles, and private jets. With great assistance from BWI and Signature Flight Support, crowds are sure to be “wowed”. Patrick Moylan, the Signature host, is the gentlemen to meet at this great show!

On Sunday, September 7, 2008, the USO Metro Team will be following through again with a huge CONCORSO event hosted at the POWERPLANT LIVE, making Baltimore’s Inner Harbor an even better looking and sounding venue for car lovers to day or weekend trip for this event. With over 5,000 visitors already expected to attend, you will want to register early to be sure to get your Pit Passes and car placement for this event. As spectators ourselves for this event, we are anxious to see all the cars they have lined up to bring in from car clubs all over the Mid-Atlantic region. We are sure this will be a spectacular “brighter than fireworks” Baltimore event!

For more information about the events of the day and weekend, please visit the USO CONCORSO link by clicking HERE. They are still actively seeking volunteers and event sponsors to help raise money for the USO, so please… if you are interested in participating let them know. As a favor to the event, our staff are also looking for donation items and services for the Silent Auction portion of the event, too. If you know of a person, business, artist, or restaurant that might want to contribute, we’d love to speak with you. [All donated items, staff time, products or services costs are 100% tax deductible and vouchers will be issued through the USO Metro.]

Read on for more information about the history on the event, excerpted from concorsoforuso.com:

“The Concorso: Celebrating the Art of the Automobile” is proud to announce our fourth annual event and two days of fund raising, parties, music, and food to benefit the USO, supporting our men and women in uniform. The theme this year is Celebrating the Art of the Automobile and will explore the artistic and sculptural forms of the transportation industry…

Jonathan Kendall started [helping organize car show events] in October of 2005 as a way to raise money to help our community in the Baltimore-Washington area. The first event was attended by about (100) people, (12) cars and a beautiful automotive art display together in Annapolis. 2006 Followed a move to the famous City Dock in Annapolis, (100) people, (25) cars along with Jonathan’s beautiful photographic style of art. In 2007 the event took a huge leap to Little Italy in Baltimore where there were (75) cars and motorcycles, (250) ticket holders, (3000) spectators. This year Jonathan [and partner Dave Born] have chosen to work with the USO as the beneficiary.

Saturday, September 6th starts with a fun “Rally” driving event through the Baltimore County, Maryland countryside… [from Maserati of Baltimore].

Saturday continues with the evening event at the Signature Flight Support “Wings and Wheels” Reception to be held at their modern BWI general aviation facility. Ticket holders will enjoy wonderful assortment of international cuisines, wine and drinks. There will be a silent and live auction to benefit the charities. And the event will feature live entertainment as well as a display of automotive and aircraft art.

Sunday’s event is The Concorso and will be in downtown Baltimore at the Cordish Company’s exciting Power Plant Live located at Market Place and Water Street. Over (100) exotic cars will be on display for the general public to view. There will be a private lounge, Angel’s Rock Bar, where ticket holders will find food and drinks for the afternoon. This will be our formal car judging segment and also include live entertainment, auctions and art displays.
